Have you tried to put a plan in place and found that you were staring fear in the face? Have you found that things often don’t go as predicted. Things that you thought you had under control can suddenly become your greatest challenges. I know that the summer of negotiating the purchase of Fitness Force was full of not only daily problems but sometimes hourly problems. It was truly a test of my will and determination. Sometimes the tests on what we can handle seem pretty close to the limit. I will tell you this though, when you persevere and overcome the problems that are all part of the process, you will be stronger. I’m sure those problems are part of the lesson to help make things easier later. Once you’ve battled and made one dream come true, you know the way and can make more dreams come true.
Fear is our biggest enemy. It can stop you dead in your tracks. The thing about fear though…….it isn’t even real. Think about it for a moment. When you are afraid, you are allowing a huge emotional response to a story….to something that hasn’t happened yet, and that may never happen. You’re brain is creating a story and you believe it as true (or potentially true). Your brain’s job is to keep you safe. It knows that right now you are and sees no reason to change that. So it protects you by coming up with all kinds of potentially bad things so you`ll stay stagnant. Usually the fear of a thing is far worse than the thing itself.
You are already successful if you’ve made it to step five! That means you’ve had a dream, watched the signs, made a plan and started to work on it. Obstacles and fear at this stage don’t compare to the fear of simply getting started to begin with. It takes courage to follow a dream. Don’t stop now!
How many times have heard someone say “If only I had tried” or “I wish I had followed my dream”? Do you ever say that?
Accept fear for what it is, a safety mechanism. Analyze the situation….and keep going!
Step five of making your dreams come true is to overcome obstacles and overcome fear. You’ve got to keep your forward momentum and embrace change.
How about you? Is fear stopping you from taking that next step? I’d love to hear from you. And don’t forget to leave a link back to your own blog too via the commentluv feature here on the site.
Until next time,
